Burgundy Cruise 2016 - June 1st through September 30th.

Our cruising itinery for the 2016 season will include the two beautiful towns of Macon and Chalon-sur-Saone and the village of La Truchere, located in southern Burgundy on the River’s Saone and Seille. Macon the arts centre of Burgundy and Chalon, often referred to as a mini Paris, feature great shopping, entertainment, dining and sightseeing. La Truchere located on the canalised River Seille provides a village and canal cruising experience

About your hosts Anne and Andrew Brain

We enjoy welcoming you, our guests, onboard “Sandalwood” sharing our cruising experiences with you as each cruise is special and different. Our guests love sharing the cruise and many other experiences with us, sharing our passion for “Sandalwood” and of course the fine foods and wines of the region.

We have worked for many years in hospitality having owned and operated our restaurant in Claremont and our guest house Sandalwood Lodge close to Perth Western Australia. Hence the boat name “Sandalwood”.

Meet the team

Anne Brain
Owner Operator

Anne left her native Ireland and travelled to Australia where she obtained a position as a senior level executive with a well known American multi-national in Western Australia.

Anne learned her boating and sailing skills on the coastal waters off Fremantle in Western Australia and is well versed in boating and boat handling. Her boating experiences on the inland European waterways extend through Holland, Belgium and extensively the waterways of Burgundy.

Her passion for cooking was realised at an early age and her cooking style is a combination of traditional French and Continental and her own original recipes.

Andrew Brain
Owner Operator

Born in South Gloucester, Andrew travelled to Western Australia in his mid twenties. Andrew also held an executive position with a Japanese multi-national, and later joined his wife Anne in their marketing and advertising business. His interest in fine dining and wine were kindled during their ownership of the restaurant and guest house and now enjoys researching the wine and cuisine of the Burgundy regions.

Like Anne, Andrew learned his boat handling skills off the West Australian coast owning and operating his own boats, sail & power for many years and is formally qualified in boating and navigation matters on the European waterways.

Jessica
Crew Member

We should also introduce Jessica, our crew member, Jess loves the cruising life and is well travelled. She is calm and friendly, and once she has greeted our guests can be found relaxing on deck in the shade.
